A few words about us

About Concordia of Omaha

At Concordia Lutheran Schools of Omaha, our mission is to prepare young people for lives of faith, service and leadership as Christian disciples. We do this by providing caring, high-quality education centered in the love of Christ. We serve approximately 600 students in grades kindergarten through 12. Our schools include Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School at 156th & Fort Streets, and Concordia Academy elementary school near 90th & Blondo Streets. Our schools are owned and supported by an association of 15 congregations affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School is accredited by National Lutheran School Accreditation. We welcome students from diverse religious backgrounds. About one-third of our elementary students and half of our junior-senior high students belong to non-Lutheran churches, and a few come to us with no church home.

Schools’ History

Our schools began with prayers—the prayers of faithful Christians who knew what a difference it makes to build lives on the Living Stone that is Jesus Christ. They prayed that God would bring Lutheran Christian schools to west Omaha to build his kingdom in the hearts of children and youth. These prayers were answered when West Omaha Lutheran School Association was formed by a group of congregations in 1996. In the fall of 1998, the association’s first elementary school, Abundant Life Lutheran School, opened to 55 students, with a second elementary school, Bread of Life, opening the following year.

In our schools’ fifth year, after receiving a donation of 40 acres of land and a building, we celebrated the opening of Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School at 156th and Fort Streets. The West Omaha School Association—since renamed Concordia Lutheran Schools of Omaha—brings Christ-centered education to about 600 students in grades kindergarten through 12. The elementary schools have been combined into one school, Concordia Academy, with enrollment of about 150 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The junior-senior high school has grown to 430 students in grades 6 through 12.
