Erin Cernik

Erin Cernik was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas where she attended Holy Cross Lutheran from Kindergarten through 8th grade, graduating with a class of just 18. Middle school is when she decided she wanted to be a teacher. She went on to attend Kansas’s largest high school, Wichita High School East, and graduated with an International Baccalaureate diploma in 2011. Convinced since birth she would follow in her parents’ footsteps and attend the University of Kansas, she shocked herself with the decision to attend Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. After getting assigned to assist in an 8th grade Language Arts classroom, Erin quickly decided to switch her major to Middle Level Education, a decision she will never regret. While at Concordia, Erin took part in various activities including intramurals and Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society. She was a barista at the campus coffee shop and served one year as Public Relations Officer for Concordia Youth Ministry, a club that led lock-ins for middle and high school youth at local churches. With concentrations in Language Arts and Math, she graduated from Concordia University with a Lutheran Teacher Diploma in 2015 and just finished her first year of teaching English at Concordia Jr. High.

In her free time, Erin enjoys drinking too much coffee, starting books before she finishes others, horror movies, and convincing Nebraskans to love the Kansas Jayhawks (almost) as much as she does.
