Tom Hiegel

Tom Hiegel was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska, but grew up on a farm in central Nebraska. He attended St. Paul High School, and Concordia University-Nebraska. He graduated from Concordia with a degree in elementary education. After graduation, he taught at Lutheran schools in Michigan, Texas, and Indiana where he was teacher and administrator. While in Indiana, he also taught at IVY Tech Community College, ITT Technical Institute, and a Microsoft Training Center. He has earned two Master’s degrees, the first in supervision and curriculum and the second in instructional technology. In 2005, Mr. Hiegel accepted the call to Concordia Schools of Omaha to teach elementary computer classes and become the districts first technology director. In 2012, he was released from his teaching duties to focus on the technology needs of the district full time.

Mr. Hiegel is married to Linda, also a teacher in Omaha. They have three sons, two daughters-in- law, and four grandchildren. Mr. Hiegel stays busy reading, learning new ways to grill and smoke meat, cheering on the Huskers, and visiting family.
